12.2.13

Journal - Where are you right now on your "Who Do You Think You Are" project? What did you do over the break for the project? Did you interview anyone? Use the checklist below to figure out what you have finished, what you are still working on and what you still have to do.

I have my interviews finished and my family tree decked out. Over the break I went to my great-grandma and asked her about the family tree and interviewed her with some questions, man of  which can be answered with the family echo.

11.11.13

Journal - How far along are you on your stop motion animation? What did you do over the weekend to work on you stop motion animation? Do you have all your pictures today? Will you have all your pictures by the end of the hour? Give me a detailed updated.

I have not done anything but think of ideas for my stop motion. I thought about my ideas. I do not have all of my picture for today. I might have all my pictures by the end of the hour, and if I don't, I'll make a new one at home.

11.8.13

Journal - What are you planning on doing for your stop-motion animation video? What story are you going to tell? How will your video be fun and different? Who is taking your photos? When are you taking your photos?

I'm not sure what I'm going to do but I will go outside and research for some ideas. My video will tell a story and most likely create an emotional impact on the watcher. I don't know who would be taking my photos. Sometime today and or over the weekend.

Journal - What photo editing tool(s) have you used so far on your 5 photos project? Do you like the tool? Is it easy to use? Hard to use? What's good about it? Whats bad about it? Give a detailed review of the tool.

I used pixlr to edit my five photos. Some of it is kind of confusing and some of it was really easy. It was good because it lets you change alot of things about the picture, but doesn't really give any clear instruction on how to use the tool. There's nothing really special about this tool other than the fact you can change a bit more stuff than the average photo editing tool.

11.1.13

Journal - What are the pros and cons to photo editing? What are some examples of when photo editing is fun and appropriate? When can photo editing be inappropriate or too much?

Some of the pros of photo editing is that you could make something look more appealing, such as an advertisement, or propaganda. A con of photo editing is if you use it on a person to make them look better, you could make everyone else feel insecure about what they should like like.
Some examples of photo editing being fun is maybe editing a picture of one of your friends, or photo shopping them   somewhere. Too much photo editing can occur when you are trying too hard to make something look, because you can add too much saturation or something.

Journal – What is your favorite web tool that we have used in class so far this year? Why is it your favorite web tool? What do you like about it? How can you use it again in the future?

My favorite web tool we've used is prezi. I liked it because it's easy to use and fun to use. It's also easy to share with other people. I like the transitions between the slides. I will use it again in the future to present information I would like to share with other people.

Tell me about your weekend:

This weekend I got a job as a ball spotter at the Meadow brook golf course. Over the course of Saturday and Sunday I made 67$. On Sunday after work I hung out with two of my friends who are probably getting paid to be my friends.

10.17.13

Journal - What makes a presentation memorable? What makes a presentation stand out and not boring? How are you going to make your presentation better than anyone else? How will you make it unique? Explain.

A presentation that is memorable leaves an impression on the watcher(s). If you want to make a presentation that is not boring, you will have to make it colorful, but not too colorful. You don't want to distract the watcher, but you also want to attract the watchers attention. You also want to have alot of information, but you don't want to have paragraphs, just small facts and statistics.

10.15.13

Journal - What did you learn from the Ted Talk yesterday? Did you find it interesting or accurate? Explain.

I thought that TED talks was overreacting a bit. Yes, some teenagers might be over attached to their phone, but that doesn't mean all of them are completely attached to it and want to become "companions" with their phones. She was making a lot of assumptions about the future of cell phones. Like the one where Siri would listen to you and respond. She was assuming that we would become emotionally attached to our phones.

10.14.13

What do you love about the "digital age" that we currently live in? What do you dislike about it? What are positives ways you use technology in your life? What are some things that come along with technology that you don't like? Explain.

I like how that everything is so easy to access. I also love how connected the world has become. There's not much I like about the digital age, but one thing I don't like it people becoming extremely overweight because of being on a digital device for too long. I use technology to talk with friends that live too far away. technology makes it easier to talk to them. I also use technology to track my times of exercise.

10.8.13

Journal - Tell me about your Homecoming weekend (whether you went to the activities or not!). Tell me about what you did over the weekend.

Over the homecoming weekend I had a bro night with all my bros. We ordered pizza and wings and watched a movie. After that we went to my place and got my stuff and someones bike broke so we towed him with a rope. We didn't die surprisingly. We went to another friends house and played Grand Theft Auto 5 until midnight when everybody had to leave.

10.2.13

Journal - What do you know about infographics? What do you know about them? What are their purpose?

I know that infographics are created to help display information in a colorful yet non-distracting way. They help someone understand a subject usually through facts and statistics.

I don't have any plans this weekend.

9.25.13

Journal - Most students view *citing work as 'a pain in the butt'. How do you feel about it? Is it necessary? When is it appropriate to cite work? What's the importance of it?

I don't care about it. If it is necessary I will do it. I think for some cases it is necessary and for some it's not.  It is important because it gives the original poster credit.

9.24.13

Journal - What is your favorite book, magazine, or publication? Why?

Out of all the different books I've read, I can't say I can choose one to be my favorite. I like the Sci-fi/Fantasy genre. I also like Action/Adventure. Most of my favorite book series come from these genres like Percy Jackson, The Maze Runner trilogy, Lord of the Rings, and the Super Human series.

9.23.13

Journal - Do you enjoy writing? What kind of writing do you enjoy? Why is writing an essential skill in life? How will you use this skill in the future?

I enjoy writing to some extent. I like creative writing and writing that expresses my opinion and challenges others. This is essential if I ever want to prove a point, so I can do so easily. I probably will not use this skill for any career, as my career choices are a doctor, an Olympic runner, and a songwriter/rapper. None of these really use creative writing or opinionated expressive writing. Maybe if I get interviewed as any of these I would use those writing styles.

9.17.13

Journal - Why is creating an outline for a paper important? Do you think it helps you personally? How would you prefer to outline a paper - pen and paper or an online tool? Is there a different way you know if that would prefer to organize your thoughts?

So you can know what you're going to do for the rest of the project so its easier for you. I think it does help occasionally.  I would prefer to make an outline with an online tool. You could use a paper and pencil.

9.16.13

Journal Tell me about your weekend. Where did you go? What did you do? This weekend I didn't do much. I had a cross country meet. I got 67th out of one hundred something. Blue Valley got 2nd place overall. I went to watch a boxing match on TV. The match was between undefeated Mayweather versus Undefeated Canelo. Other than that I didn't do anything.

9.11.13

Journal - Who do you look up to in life? Why? What have they done to help you or guide you?

I look up to my grandfather in life. He has supported me in whatever I choose to do.  He wants me to be successful no matter what. He always encourages me to get goods grades and stay out of trouble.  My grandfather has done many great things, including being in the secret service at one point. I think that job is very brave.

9.10.13

Journal - What is good email etiquette and why is it essential in the "real" world? How can having good email etiquette put you ahead?

A good email etiquette is essential because if you want someone to take you seriously, you'll have to sound professional. Otherwise they won't take you seriously and they will be less likely to take what you have to say into consideration. For example, if you had a question for a teacher, if you didn't use good etiquette, they might not be able to understand you or they won't take you seriously.

9.6.13

Journal - If there was one big global issue in the world that you could fix, what would it be? A cure for cancer? Save the rain forest? Stop pollution? Think about it and then write about it. Why would you choose that specific issue?

If I could fix one global issue, I would find a cure for cancer. Millions of people die each year from cancer. 7.6 million to be specific. If I were to end cancer and cure everybody, I would be saving alot of people.

My discoveries could spark new ideas and discoveries from other people and they could cure things like Cystic Fibrosis, STD's, Ebola, Polio, Asthma, and even the common cold. I would hope that all these things that people suffer from, they could be cured and would never return again.

9.3.13

Journal - On Friday we discussed Public Service Announcements. In your own words tell me what they are and what their purpose is. If you could create a PSA what would your topic be? Why?

A PSA is to announce something to the public so everybody knows about something that's happening. My PSA topic would be about why you should run everyday because I like running and would like to share it with people

August 30, 2013

Journal - What are your hobbies and extra curricular activities? Where do you spend your free time? Tell me three of your favorite things (movies, TV show, magazine, sport, color, etc.)

I enjoy running a lot. I also like watching Netflix all the time; Mostly the show Doctor Who. I like sleeping the most though. Doing nothing is one of my all time favorite things to do.

I spend my free time either sleeping or watching Netflix. I enjoy doing nothing very much but that hobby has been brutally and mercilessly stolen from me by the clutches of a place they call "School".

Prezi who am I

August 7th, 2013

Journal - What are some qualities of a good presentation? How can you make a boring presentation interesting? Explain.

A good presentation has interesting points to catch the watchers attention. It has bright colors, but not so much so your watcher gets distracted from the point you're trying to make. Don't be monotone, have excitement in your voice.

A bad presentation has lots of animations and way too many colors that distract the watcher from the point being made. The presenter is monotone and would bore the watcher. It also has no point and doesn't convince the watcher.

August 26, 2013

Journal - Tell me if you agree with this statement and then explain why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted I should be able to use it."

I do not agree with the statement because if the user who posted it worked hard on the image, then he wouldn't want people taking it without permission and not giving the original poster credit.
The poster should say if the image can be publicly used or not.
Although it is very easy to steal pictures, people often think it's okay to steal original work.

Friday, August 23, 2013

Journal - What is the importance of online safety and protecting your information? What do you do to protect yourself online? Share an experience you or someone you know has had with online safety.

Online safety is important because someone you don't want to know who you are may know where you live, your name, and other personal information you don't want random people to have. Someone could come to your house and steal your valuables or could cause harm to yourself or others in your house.
To protect yourself from online safety by not giving out your personal information to random strangers; and if someone you know is giving out their personal information, tell them the hazards of putting that information to random people.

August 21st

Journal - Tell me what you know about Web 2.0. List example Web 2.0 sites. Are you on any sites that let you “post” information? What are those sites? How often do you use them? What do you post on them?

Web 2.0 allows people to talk to each other and interact with one and other. For example, social networking sites are included in Web 2.0. It could be very useful for collaborating with other other co-workers for example.
